{"id":842,"date":"2025-12-16T16:02:03","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T20:02:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/group-projects\/2025\/12\/16\/curved-precision\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T16:02:03","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T20:02:03","slug":"curved-precision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/group-projects\/2025\/12\/16\/curved-precision\/","title":{"rendered":"Curved Precision"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- wp:themify-builder\/canvas \/-->\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flexwall\u2019s Role in Supermax\u2019s Architectural Vision<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On May 9th, 2024, PreCon\u2019s technical sales representative, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/joseph-albanese-92182630b\/\">Joseph Albanese<\/a>, met with architect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/henry-chiu-87697324\/\">Henry Chiu<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.henrychiuarchitect.com\/\">Henry W Chiu Architect Limited<\/a> to explore precast solutions for the proposed Supermax Healthcare Canada Facility at 329 Stirling Crescent, Bradford, ON. Following multiple discussions over several months, Henry Chiu concluded that the optimal choice was clear: Flexwall sandwich precast panels would best meet all the project\u2019s building envelope requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Henry Chiu recommended <a href=\"https:\/\/pre-con.com\/\">PreCon Precast<\/a> to Supermax Healthcare as the preferred producer, highlighting that PreCon\u2019s proprietary <a href=\"https:\/\/pre-con.com\/product\/flexwall\/\">Flexwall<\/a> precast sandwich precast offers appealing architectural aesthetics, cost-effective solutions with minimal structural steel, superior thermal performance, full compliance with OBC SB-10 requirements, and a streamlined construction schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"853\" src=\"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/329-WAREHOUSE-FIXWALL-second-submission-Sep-03-2024-1024x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-853\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>PreCon\u2019s support throughout the project\u2019s development and tender process ultimately led to a purchase order being issued by <a href=\"https:\/\/innovative-structures.ca\/\">Innovative Structures Limited<\/a>, the selected general contractor, on March 5th, 2025. The building\u2019s design originally called for panels reaching 47 feet (10.325 meters) in height. The Flexwall prestressed system offered a significant advantage by eliminating the need for horizontal wind girts, thereby reducing the quantity of construction materials required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>True to its name, Flexwall once again proved its worth as the flexible material of choice when accommodating the atypical panel configurations at the building\u2019s three curved corners. To emphasize the curvature at these corners, PreCon\u2019s design\u2014led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/anar910\/\">Anar Parikh P.Eng<\/a>\u2014incorporated segmented panels of non-standard widths, rather than the modular 2.4-metre Flexwall width. This approach enhanced and better defined the 10.750-metre radius at each of the three curved building corners. The facade further features horizontal strip lighting, surface-mounted directly onto the Flexwall panels, adding a sleek, modern accent to the building\u2019s appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"846\" src=\"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_3130-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-846\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"847\" src=\"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_3136-1-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-847\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"845\" src=\"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_3133-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-845\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Flexwall was also incorporated as a dado wall application at the \u201csaw-tooth\u201d loading dock, enabling seamless integration among the warehouse facility, the office, and the main entrances\u2014once again showcasing the versatility of the Flexwall sandwich panel. During post-award meetings, PreCon\u2019s engineering team deserves commendation for hosting several virtual sessions to ensure full coordination between the structural steel and the Flexwall precast fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\">In total, the project comprises approximately:  160 Flexwall precast units with pattern #4, covering 25,000 square feet of wall area, with a production duration of 24 days. Installation completed in 6 days. <\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"852\" src=\"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Atypical-Band-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-852\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"849\" src=\"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Stockpiled-and-Ready-to-Ship-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-849\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"848\" src=\"https:\/\/oscoconstructiongroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Standard-Band-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-848\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategy: Smart Planning for Limited Access on the East Elevation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The east elevation, recognized as the building\u2019s narrowest fa\u00e7ade, presented a unique challenge due to a limited setback, an existing retaining wall, a drop in elevation to the existing Bell Easement, and a further drop on the east side of the retaining wall relative to street level.
